The coastal city of Vancouver welcomes the month of May this year with a host of exciting events — from celebrations of music, entertainment and the arts to culinary and cultural extravaganzas.
Be sure to mark your calendar with the following important dates! You won’t want to miss any of them.
HAIDA NOW: A Visual Feast of Innovation and Tradition
On view from Friday, March 16, 2018 through February 2020.
The Museum of Vancouver (MOV), in partnership with Haida Gwaii Museum, presents a visual feast of innovation and tradition with their new exhibition, HAIDA NOW: A Visual Feast of Innovation and Tradition!
Sharing their insights and knowledge about the art pieces on display, local Haida Artists demonstrate and explain to the museum’s visitors how to experience this powerful art. You’ll be shown a way to engage with the worldview and sensibility of the Haida people themselves. You’ll also gain a greater appreciation for the role museums can play in our country’s reconciliation movement.
Living, Building, Thinking: Art & Expressionism
On daily until May 21, 2018.
If you’re an art lover, then this Vancouver Art Gallery exhibition is an exciting show to visit! Showcasing 90 works in all mediums, and using the German Expressionist collection from the McMaster Museum of Art, you’ll explore the development of Expressionism in art from the early 19th century to the present day. Rich and thought provoking, the show explores the fascinating relationships between artists and modern societies. More information can be found at Tourism Vancouver's website.
